Love and Society; Love in Society, Rather

Hello.
At what point did we decide that Society would dictate WHO we love, who we marry; essentially, who we are? Society, that fictional, shallow gossip; yet, she is real, isn’t she? More real than fleeting things such as love, independence, and/or freedom of self? But I wonder, did true love ever prevail? The question is this: which came first, true love or society? The chicken or the egg? At what point did the chicken become less important than the egg? After all, can the egg feel? Can it experience yet love or life? Nay, it is enclosed wholly, shut off from any sort of emotion and/or experience. Yet we guard the egg with our life, with our “chicken being”. We would lay down our chicken lives for this egg. We put so much faith and hope in this egg that we would readily lay down our lives for it. Yet we are here, now, in this life. We are fully equipped to live our short, fleeting lives and experience emotions and accomplish things, and become individuals, yet we let something not quite live take on a life of its own and own us yet.
Society. Society. Society is sick. Society is an illusion. Society is a cruel master, that feels not, yet dictates the fate of us “feeling beings”. Our own creation now controls us, the creator; she has, through ignorance, blind conformity, and denial, taken on a form of her own, and she now governs us severely, with her own survival at heart. Scary truth, this.
